Steven John Webb was born on the 18th July 1965. He is a British Liberal Democrat and an MP for Thronbury & Yate.

Political career[edit]

In 1995, Steven was nominated as a candidate for the Northavon constituency and in May 1997 he was elected to serve the Northavon constituency with a majority of 2,137 votes. He was re-elected in 2001 and 2005. In 2006, Steve was appointed to head the team writing the Lib Dem’s next General Election manifesto.

In December 2007, Steve became the Shadow Secretary of State for the Environment, Energy, Food and Rural Affairs and moved to shadow the new Department for Energy and Climate Change in 2008.

In May 2010, Steve was elected as the first MP of the new Thornbury and Yate constituency.

Steve is currently the Minister of State (Department for Work and Pensions).

Education[edit]

After attending Dartmouth High School in Birmingham, Steve went onto University and studied Philosophy and Economics at Hertford College, Oxford.
