Political Career
Nigel Keith Anthony Standish Vaz, known as Keith Vaz (born 26 November 1956), is a British Labour Party politician and has been Member of Parliament for Leicester East since 1987. He is the longest-serving Asian MP and has been the Chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee since July 2007. He was appointed as a member of the Privy Council in June 2006. He has been named among the most influential Asians in Britain.
Education
Vaz was educated at Latymer Upper School, Hammersmith followed by Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, where he studied law and obtained a BA 1st class Honours (1979), MA (1987), and MCFI (1988).
