Franco Carraro has served the Italian Parliament as Senator for the Emilia Romagna region since 2013.
Franco Carraro, born in Padua, Veneto, on December 6th 1939, is an Italian sports manager and politician.
Political Career
Franco Carraro was three times minister of the Italian Republic. From 1989 to 1993 he was the mayor of Rome. In 2013 Franco Carraro was elected senator of the XVII Legislature of the Italian Republic in the constituency of Emilia Romagna for Forza Italia-Popolo della Libertà political group. As a Senator, he is Vice President of the 6th Permanent Commission on Finances and Treasury.
Notable Work
During the Fifties and Sixties he was European champion in water skiing. His notoriety grew significantly in 1967, when he started to work in the football sector and became commissioner and president of AC Milan, a position that he held until 1971.
