Political career
Jim Walsh was a member of Wexford County Council from 1979, and served as president of this body in 1992-1993. As a member of the Fianna Fáil party, he was a member of the Joint Committee on Environment and Local Government and Spokesperson on Environment and Local Government in Irish Senate, from 1997 to 2002. He was re-elected to the Seanad Éireann in July 2007 and placed on the Agricultural Panel.
