Maria Gabriela da Silveira Ferreira Canavilhas was born on March 29th, 1961. She is currently a Portuguese Parliamentarian at the National Assembly. She is also a professor at Lisbon´s National Conservatory.
Political Career
She is a deputy at the Portuguese National Assembly elected by the circle of Braga through the Socialist Party. She was Minister for Culture between 2009 and 2011, Culture Regional Director of the X Azores Regional Government and member of the governing board for Luso-American Development. She is currently a member of the Parliamentary Commission of International Affairs and Portuguese Communities, and is an alternate to the Education, Science and Culture Commission.
Education
Maria Gabriela Canavilhas holds a degree in Musical Sciences from the Nova University of Lisbon, and in Piano from the National Conservatory.
