John Thomas Alderdice, Baron Alderdice was born on 28th March 1955. He is a is a Northern Ireland politician. Since 1996 he has sat in the House of Lords as a Liberal Democrat.
Political career
He was created a life peer in 1996 as Baron Alderdice, of Knock in the City of Belfast. In 2010, he was elected to the new position of convenor of the Liberal Democrat Peers, a role in which he chairs the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Party in the House of Lords. He was elected President of Liberal International in 2005 and served until the Liberal Democrat's International Cairo congress in 2009. He was also Chairman and Director for the Centre for Democracy and Peace Building. He was President of ARTIS (Europe) Ltd (research and risk modelling, including psychology of terrorism and political violence; notional remuneration).
Education
