Anastasios Kourakis was born in Thessaloniki in 1948. He is a Greek politician , doctor and writer.

He joined the Communist Party as a member from 1975 to 1990 and from 1990 until today operates in Synaspismos and is a member of the Political Committee of Thessaloniki. For many years he was president and a member of the Hospital committees, and a member of the Board of the Medical Association of Thessaloniki, and served as secretary of that club 2000-2003.
