Michael Creed - (born 29th June 1963) is an Irish Fine Gael politician and has been a Teachta Dála for the Cork North–West constituency since 2007.

Political Career[edit]

Michael was first co-opted to Cork County Council in 1987. Creed was first elected to Dáil Éireann at the 1989 general election and retained his seat until losing it at the 2002 general election to his Fine Gael running mate Gerard Murphy. He regained his seat at the 2007 general election at the expense of Gerard Murphy. At the 2011 general election he held his seat after topping the poll with 22.1% of the first preference vote. He is the son of the former TD and Minister of State Donal Creed He has held several positions on the Fine Gael front-bench including; Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, 2007 - 2010, Health 1989 - 1993, Youth & Sport in 1993-1994 and Education; Arts, Culture & the Gaeltacht in 1994. He was the Chairperson of Cork County Council for the period 2005/06.

Education[edit]

He was educated at St. Colman's College, Fermoy, De La Salle College, Macroom, University College Cork and College of Commerce, Rathmines. His qualifications are a Bachelor of Arts, Higher Diploma of Education and a Diploma in Legal Studies.
