Gavin Laurence Barwell (born 23 January 1972[2]) is a British Conservative Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament for Croydon Central since the 2010 general election.
Political Career
Barwell worked at the Conservative Party Headquarters from 1993 until 2010. He held the post of the Party's Chief Operating Officer working closely with Party Leaders Michael Howard and David Cameron. He was a local councillor on the London Borough of Croydon between 1998 and 2010. He entered into the House of Commons with his election as MP for Croydon Central in the 2010 general election. Following his election, Gavin Barwell joined the Science & Technology Select Committee and the Executive of the 1922 Committee. He was the Parliamentary Private Secretary to Michael Gove until October 2013 when he was appointed by the Prime Minister to be a Government Whip.
