Athanasiou Charalampos, Greek Politician

Athanasiou Charalampos was born in Lesvos Island in 1946. He is a judge, politician and a member of New Democracy party.

Political Career

He headed the State ballot of New Democracy and elected in the election of May and June of 2012. On June 21 of 2012, he was sworn in as Deputy Minister of Interior. On June 25 of 2013 he was appointed Minister of Justice following a restructuring of government. Charalampos Athanasiou is a judge; in 2008 he was elected president of the Union of Judges and Prosecutors. From this position he worked to speed up the administration of justice and to weaken the Judicial Power of the Executive.
