Alastair John Lyndhurst Bruce Baron Aberdare was born on 2 May 1947. He is a non-partisan elected hereditary peer since 2009.


Political career

In July 2009 he was elected to sit in the House of Lords. He succeeded his father after his death. He is a member of the information Committee since 2012. From 2009 to 2012 he was the director of Waltz Programmes Ltd - Learning for Work. He was a partner of Bruce Naughton Wade from 1991 to 1999. Then, he was the director of ProbusBNW since 1999 and a trustee of National Botanic Garden of Wales, from 1994 to 2006. He was also a fellow of Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce and a honorary Fellow of Cardiff University since July 2008. He is Bailiff of St Davids of the Venerable Order of St John of Jerusalem, Priory of Wales.


Education

He was educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford.
