Daniela Filipiová was born on August 9, 1957, in Prague. She is a Czech politician and architect and currently works in the Senate. From January to May 2009, she was the Minister of Health.
Filipiová underwent neurological surgery in 1986, after which she was confined to a wheelchair.
Education
In 1982, she studied architecture at the Czech Technical University. In the field of architecture she paid particular attention to projects of barrier-free access. She wrote three books on the subject: "Life Without Barriers", "Creating a barrier-free environment" and "Projects without barriers".
Political career
In 1997 she joined the the ODS Party. Since 2000 she has served as a member of the Senate, on the Committee on Health and Social Policy. In 2009 she held the post of Minister of Health in the government of Mirek Topolánek.
In 2012 she retained her senatorial mandate.
