Brigitte Francine TJ Grouwels (born in Hasselt, May 30, 1953) is a Belgian politician for the CD & V (Flemish Christian Democratic party).
Political career
Growels worked 10 years for the CVP-PSC, the Christian Democratic CEPESS research department, and then about 10 years for the NGO Development ACT.In 1992 she was elected for the first time in the Brussels Parliament. In 1997 she was minister in the Flemish Government, and was responsible for Brussels Affairs and Equal Opportunities. After the 1999 elections, the CVP was no longer in the Flemish government and the Brussels government. Jos Chabert took over as minister. From 2009 she is Brussels Minister of Public Works and Transport, Information Technology and the Port of Brussels. In 2014 Grouwels decided to no longer sit in the Brussels government and suggested Bianca Debaets as her successor.
Education
Growels studied commercial and consular sciences, as well as a masters in Eastern Languages and History in Limburg, Paris and Leuven. She also did a traineeship at the European Commission.
