Anton Heinzl, born on July 3rd, 1953 in Altmannsdorf bei St. Pölten, is an Austrian politician and Member of Parliament at the Austrian National Council for the SPÖ (Sozialdemokratische Partei Österreichs; Social Democratic Party of Austria).
Political Career
During his youth, Anton Heinzl participated in the Socialist Youth. In 1982, he began his political career as a councillor in St. Pölten and as district manager of the Social Democratic Party of St. Pölten. He was member of City Council in 1992. In 1998 he succeeded Heide Maria Onodi as Deputy in the National Council. After becoming District Chairman he gave up his function as district manager in January 2003, and was succeeded by Robert Disclaimer. In addition, since 1995 he has been the Chairman of the ARBÖ (Auto-, Motor- und Radfahrerbund Österreichs; the Austrian Car, Engine and Cycling Association) in St. Pölten.
Education
Anton Heinzl trained as a mason. From 1974 until 1982, he was a construction engineer for the City Council of St. Pölten.
