Alastair John Lyndhurst Bruce Baron Aberdare was born on 2 May 1947. He has been a non-partisan elected hereditary peer since 2009.
Political career[edit]
In July 2009 he was elected to sit in the House of Lords. He succeeded his father after his death. He has been a member of the information Committee since 2001 and from 2009 to 2012 he was the director of Waltz Programmes Ltd - Learning for Work. He was a partner of Bruce Naughton Wade from 1991 to 1999. Then, he took up the role of director of ProbusBNW in 1999 and was a trustee of The National Botanic Garden of Wales Board from 1994 to 2006. He was also a fellow of The Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce and an honorary Fellow of Cardiff University since July 2008. He is Bailiff of St Davids of the Venerable Order of St John of Jerusalem, Priory of Wales.
