Janusz Piechociński – (born on 15th March 1960 in Studzianki, Poland) is a Polish politician and a Member of Parliament (I, II, IV, VI and VII term). From November 2012 he was President of the Polish People’s Party (Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe). He has been Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy since2012.
Political Career[edit]
Since 1990 he has been a member of the Polish People’s Party. He is a member of Parliament of the I, II, IV, VI and VII term. In parliament in 1991-1997 he worked in the finance and budget committee. In 1992-1993 he was chairman of the Committee of prevention of pathology in the economy. He was also vice-chairman of the Committee of a Reform of the Centre for Economic.
Between 2000 and 2001 he has been a member of the National Council for European Integration at the Prime Minister's Office. In later years he was a member of the Committee of infrastructure (and was a chairman). He is currently a member of the parliamentary committee: infrastructure, innovation and new technologies.
He was twice elected to the regional council of Mazovia, where he chaired the committees on budget and finance, and environmental protection. Between 1999 and 2001 he was the president of the Regional Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Warsaw.
In December 2012 he took the office of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy. Also in December 2012 he was appointed by President Bronislaw Komorowski at the National Security Council. In September 2014 he again took the offices of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy under the Government of Ewa Kopacz.
Education[edit]
He graduated from the Economics Department of Trade and Services from the School of Economics (SGH) in Warsaw. In the period 1987-1999 he was a researcher at the School of Economics on economic history in the twentieth century, the history of economic education and European integration.
