Filippos Sachinidis (Greek: Φίλιππος Σαχινίδης, born in Vancouver, B.C, Canada on 27 March 1963) is a Greek politician and economist. He is a member of the Hellenic Parliament with PASOK, representing Larisa. He is currently the Minister of Finance in the Coalition Cabinet of Lucas Papademos.
Political Career[edit]
Elected MP (PASOK) for Larissa in the general elections of 2007, 2009 and in the general elections of May 2012 and June 2012. Between 2007 - 2009 he was a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Production and Trade and Secretary of the Development of PASOK. He is also a member of the National Council of PASOK. He served as Minister of Finance and Alternate Minister of Finance in the government of L. Papademos and as Deputy Minister of Finance and Alternate Minister of Finance in the government of G. Papandreou. He currently serves as a Member of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs, the Committee on the Financial Statement and the General Balance Sheet and on the implementation of the State Budget and the Committee on European Affairs.
Education[edit]
He studied Economics at the University of Piraeus and received his Masters degree from Queens College, New York. He also studied at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom earning a Ph.D. in 1994.
