About Peugeot
The Precursor to the Peugeot company was founded in 1810 as a family company specialising in manufactured coffee mills and bicycles. On 20th November 1858 Emile Peugeot applied for a trademark of the Peugeot and the lion brand. The first car was built in collaboration with Leon Serpollet in 1889 and subsequently Armand Peugeot founded the Société des Automobiles Peugeot in 1896. Peugeot has received a number of international awards including Car of the Year in several countries and four European Car of the Year awards.
Engagement in Cultural Diplomacy
The PSA Peugeot Citroën Foundation is a not for profit organisation that works closely with the Peugeot brand. Their aims include education,culture, environment and disabilities. They work on a number of projects with the aim to enhance and improve the lives of underprivileged citizens all over the world. A number of projects use cultural enrichment with the aim of utilising the skills learnt to create training opportunities and employment. Two examples include the Charity Fund “Deti Nashi’ which organises cultural events for orphanages. The children are able to take part in these activities with financing from the PSA Peugeot Citroën Foundation and The Shanghai Young Bakers Association which empowers young Chinese students with transferable skills and cultural awareness. The aim is to train students from disadvantaged rural zones in French Traditional Bakery and subsequently offer them career opportunities in the hotel business in their native regions.
Employment Policy
Peugeot strives to create a diverse and responsible environment focusing on equal opportunity and the respect of differences. Peugeot has almost 6,000 disabled employees all over the globe. An agreement signed in 2011-13 committed to improve: the employment of disabled people through “partnership agreements with specialised recruitment associations, the recognition of disabilities, with measures to adapt jobs and develop assistance for disabled individuals” as well as “disabled access to grow facilities”. PSA Peugeot Citroën focuses on motivating and preserving the presence of older workers through agreements on career and salary development and easing into retirement. In order to fully promote diversity PSA Peugeot Citroën founded the Worldwide Diversity Commitment in December 2010.

Grants and Scholarships
Peugeot provides a number of “mobility grants’ which are available to Frateli sponsorees. Between 2012-13, 27 young people from modest backgrounds received support in order to obtain a driving licence. The principle idea being that the driving licence will provide the possibility to gain a first job or to reach a place of study. The PSA Peugeot Citroën Foundation is the only foundation which works towards this sort of mobility and acts as a driver for talented young people from modest backgrounds. A number of employees were also recipients of the Frateli sponsorship program. The Peugeot Citroën Foundation also has several schemes to help underprivileged citizens and students both in France and abroad. The “Couleurs de Chine” was set up to provide access to education for girls from Chinese minorities. The Foundation set up a minibus to aid transportation.

Supporting Music and Visual Arts
Peugeot actively engages in promoting an online music sharing platform, promoting and discovering rising artists as well as sharing the work of existing artists.
Supporting Sports
Peugeot has a long history of supporting Sports. Peugeot Rally Sport was formed in 1981 under the name of Peugeot Talbot Sport. In 1994 Peugeot established a Formula 1 team but it was disbanded after numerous takeovers in 2002. In 2007 they returned to Sportscars and took first place at Le Mans in 2008, but due to financial circumstances, they again had to withdraw from the sport.
