Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter (Born September 4, 1981) is an American singer and actress from Houston, [1]. Beyoncé rose to fame in the late 1990’s as the lead singer of Destiny’s Child and currently tops the charts as an independent artist with hits such as Single Ladies, If I were a Boy, Halo, and many others. Beyoncé attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and later the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts as well as Alief Elsik High School. In 1997, Beyoncé and two of her friends, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland formed the band Child. In 2001, Destiny’s Child split up and Beyoncé began her solo career and in 2003 releasing her first solo album: Dangerously in Love. Since then, her singing career has skyrocketed with further albums such as B’Day, I Am… Sasha Fierce, 4, and most recently: Beyoncé.

Humanitarian Causes

In 2007, Beyoncé also partnered with a number of anti-hunger organizations in conjunction with her Beyoncé Experience Tour to help feed the impoverished. Beyoncé also became an ambassador for the 2012 World Humanitarian Day campaign donating her song "I Was Here" and its music video, shot in the UN, to the campaign. Beyoncé was extremely active in the effort of rebuilding in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, founding the ‘Survivor Foundation’ with Kelly Rowland to help victims of the hurricane. The foundation’s accomplishments are many, including the Music World Cares Christmas Carnival that enabled over 300 low-income households to enjoy a fun-filled day of food, entertainment, a visit from Santa Claus and free toys from the toy giveaway. The singer also held a series of food drives before her concerts in 2006 to collect the food that was so desperately needed by victims

Beyoncé supports a number of social cause and charities including: The American Foundation for AIDS Research, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Love Our Children USA, Kid’s Wish Network, Clothes Off Our Back, Chime for Change, Artists for Peace and Justice, and many more.
