Paul David Hewson, better known by his stage name Bono, was born on the 10th May 1960 in Dublin, Ireland. He is a singer-songwriter, best recognized as the frontman for U2. He is the sole lyricist for the band, often using religious, social and political themes for his songs.

Humanitarian Causes
Bono’s best known humanitarian work began in 1984 when he helped bring together a group of artists to sing the Band Aid single ‘Do They Know it’s Christmas time?Feed the World.’ In 2004, and 2014 the single was remade in response to global problems such as Ebola and the eradication of governmental debt for developing countries. Long time friend, Bob Geldof, collaborated with Bono in 2005 for the Live 8 project in which U2 performed. Geldof and Bono have collaborated many times over their careers in humanitarian and philanthropic operations including: Amnesty’s Conspiracy of Hope and Band Aid and Live Aid events. One of Bono’s main campaigns involved raising awareness for third-world debt relief and the AIDS pandemic. Moreover, he has been a leader in the fight against poverty by helping to create the One Campaign, Debt AIDS Trade Africa (DATA), (RED) and EDUN. As well as the previously mentioned humanitarian work, Bono is also involved in supporting a number of charities and foundations: ALAFA, Amnesty International, Clinton Global Initiative, Not On Our Watch, Red Cross, among many others
Philanthropic Donations
Bono was listed in Forbes as the most generous celebrity for his philanthropic work. He donated $50,000 to One in Four Ireland, a charity that helps survivors of sexual abuse.
Notable Actions
Bono has been recognized for his widespread humanitarian work, receiving three nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize and being knighted in 2007 by the Queen of Great Britain.
