Jani Möderndorfer (born Otober 3, 1965) is a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia and the leader of the deputy group of the Alliance of Alenka Bratušek (Zavezništvo Alenke Bratušek).
Political Career
he has been a member of the City Council of the Municipality of Ljubljana since 1998; since 2006 as a member Zoran Janković’s List. From 2006 to December 21 2011, he was Deputy Mayor of Ljubljana; the confirmation of a parliamentary mandate has automatically ceased this function. On the same day he was elected President of the National Assembly Credentials and Privileges Commission. He is currently serving the second mandate.
Professional Career
Möderndorfer has participated in both the training of new interpreters as well as in the teaching of Slovenian sign language. He actively participates in the school for sign language interpreters from the very beginning, currently in the context of the preparation and verification of knowledge in the field of sign language interpreting to Slovenian and vice versa, for the purpose of certification organized by the Institute of the Association of Slovenian interpreters of sign language.
He was very active all the way to the final realization of the establishment of the Association of Interpreters and the initiator and active participant in drafting the Law on the Use of Slovenian Sign Language. Previously, he performed the tasks of the President of the Section of interpreters within the Slovenian Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
For fifteen years, he has been doing the translation and adaptation for the show Prisluhnimo tišini (Listen to the silence) and he has also participated in all pre-election debates for the needs of local and parliamentary elections and elections for the President of the Republic of Slovenia as an interpreter.
Möderndorfer has participated in many International Days of the Deaf within the organization ZDGNS, forums, conferences and seminars, congresses, symposia and cultural and sports events both at home and abroad.
Education
Möderndorfer is trained interpreter of the Slovene sign language.
