Peter Požun (born March 22, 1966) is a member of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia.
Political Career[edit]
Požun was first elected National Councilor in 2007 and he is currently serving the second term as a representative of health sector.
Professional Career[edit]
Požun has participated in the preparation of expert bases for work in the field of nursing from the beginning of his professional career.
In 1994, he participated in the Initiative Committee for the establishment of an independent trade union of nurses and health technicians and then began a fairly extensive volunteer work in various societies and associations in the field of nursing. He performs many functions within the Society of nurses, midwives and health technicians Ljubljana, the Association of nurses and medical technicians of Slovenia - Chamber of Nurses and Midwives of Slovenia, and elsewhere. In 1995, he returned to the University Medical Centre Ljubljana (UKC), where he still works.
As a representative of nursing, he has actively participated in the preparation of laws, regulations, statutes, guidelines both within professional organizations as well as in the UKC and the Ministry of Health. He is also active in international associations; a member of the Governing Board of the International Council of Nurses (ICN) and a member of the leadership of the European Association of Directors / Managing Directors of nursing ENDA. Požun is also a member of the Movement for the preservation and improvement of public health since its founding.
Education[edit]
Požun studied at the Vocational College for Health Care Professionals at the University of Ljubljana which he completed in 1987 with the title of senior medical technician. He also finished BA and MA at the Faculty of Management at the University of Primorska. In 2007, he passed the professional exam in the general administrative procedure at the Academy of Administration of the Ministry of Public Administration.
