Mario Monti was born 19. March 1943 in Varese, Italy, he lives in Milan and works as Professor. He was appointed Lifelong Senator from the President of the Republic on 9. November 2011. He has been a Senator during the XVI as well as XVII Legislature.

Political career[edit]
Mario Monti was President of the Council of Ministers from 16. November 2011 to 27. April 2013; in 2013 he was also working as Transitional Minister of Foreign Affairs, from 26. March to 27. April 2013. From 19. March to 9. December 2013 he was member of the “Scelta Civica per l’Italia” party, which took the name “Per l’Italia” in November 2013. Successively, the party’s name became “Scelta Civica con Monti per l’Italia” to switch back to “Scelta Civica per l’Italia”, that Mario Monti is still a member of. He is also member of the Third Permanent Commission for Foreign Affairs and Emigration, as well as the Twelfth Permanent Commission for Hygiene and Healthcare.
