Mr Pete Wishart is a member of parliament for the constituency of Perth and North Perthshire, he is a member of the Scottish National Party and has been in office since 2005.
Biography
Pete Wishart was born in Dunfermline in 1962. He was educated at Queen Anne High School and Moray House College, Edinburgh.
Pete was the SNP Chief Whip at Westminster from 2001-2007 and is currently the Westminster Spokesperson for Home Affairs and Culture, Media and Sport.
Pete was, for 15 years, a member of the internationally successful Scottish group Runrig. he is a trained Community Worker and has been a Director of the Fast Forward charity that promotes healthy lifestyles for young people. He was a member of the Scotland Against Drugs Campaign Committee and has contributed to many national forums looking at the problem of drugs within Scottish society. Still maintaining an interest in music Pete currently plays with the cross party rock band, MP4, raising money for good causes.
Political Career
First elected in 2001 as Member of Parliament for North Tayside, Pete is currently Member of Parliament for the Perth and North Perthshire seat, with a majority of 4,379 over the Conservatives.
