Education
Nouzha Skalli graduated from the University of Montpellier in 1974.
Career
In 1985, Nouzha Skalli founded the Democratic Association of Women of Morocco (ADFM). In 1992, she founded the National Committee for Women's Participation in Political Life in Casablanca, as well as the Listening Centre and Legal Assistance to Women Victims of Violence (Casablanca), for which she served also as facilitator until 1995. In 2002, she was elected as MP of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) in the Italian House of Representatives, during her mandate she was elected Head of the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Alliance in 2003. From 2007 to 2011, she served as Minister of Social Development, Family, and Solidarity.
Awards
She was awarded the Gold Medal of the President of the Italian Republic by the Scientific Committee of the International Centre for Research Pio Manzu by Mikhail Gorbachev. On November 26, 2009, she was awarded the Prize "Premio Minerva Foundation" in the "Politics" category. In December 2004, the Population Institute of Washington awarded her with the Best Leader prize.
