Lueger, Andrea

Angela Lueger, born on October 17th, 1965 in Vienna, is an Austrian politician and Member of Parliament for the SPÖ (Sozialdemokratische Partei Österreichs; Social Democratic Party of Austria). She is a former Federal Councillor.

Political career

Angela Lueger began her political career as a district councillor in Floridsdorf (1993-2000). From July 2004 to November 2005 she was a Member of the Austrian Council and then a Deputy in the Vienna Parliament and Municipal Council. On 8th January 2008, she succeeded Kurt Eder as a Member of the Austrian Parliament. In the current legislative period, Lueger is a member of the committees on Buildings, Equality and the Environment.

Lueger has been with the SPÖ since 2001 as Deputy District Chairwoman of the SPÖ-Floridsdorf. From 2002 to 2004 she was Chair of the SPÖ-Floridsdorf and a member of the district party executive. Since 2004, she has been Deputy District Party Chairwoman and member of the District Party Bureau in Floridsdorf. Lueger is a unionist who stands very close to the people. She is engaged in the fight against unemployment and poverty in relation to single mothers.

Education

In 1979, she studies at the College for Female Economic Occupations, where she graduated in 1984.
