Irena Kotnik (born February 1, 1955) is a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia and a member of the Party of Miro Cerar (Slovenian: Stranka Mira Cerarja - SMC).

Political Career

She was elected to the Slovenian National Assembly in 2014.

Professional Career

Irena Kotnik started working as a teacher in1975. In 2004, she prepared Annual Teachers curriculum for pre-school children at the People's University of Jesenice and she had been lecturing pedagogy until 2007. She took part in preparation of questions for a vocational qualifications examination and was the President of the Commission for the execution of practical performances. Irena Kotnik has also been a headmistress at the VVZ Radovljica and in 2010 she passed examination for principals. She also actively participated in surveys regarding different aspects of children’s education and development.

Education

In 1980, Irena Kotnik passed the proficiency exam for professionals in the field of education. In 2001 obtained BA in Pedagogy at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. The same year, she passed a course for a counselor at a crisis phone line for the young and worked as a consultant on the one of such Slovenian lines.
