Jillian van Turnhout was born March 29th 1968. She is Seanad Éireann and also very active in the field of children's rights.

Political Career

Jillian Van Turnhout was a member and Vice-President of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). She was nominated for the first time in the year 1998 by the Community and Voluntary Pillar on behalf of the NYCI to the EESC and appointed by the Government. From 2006 to 2008, she served as Vice-President. While representing the EESC, she was part of the Steering Group for the EU Forum on the Rights of the Child and the EU-China Round Table.

In 2011 she was nominated to the Seanad by the Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, based on her professional, voluntary and community work on children’s rights over the past decade.

Notable Works

Jillian Van Turnhout received the Newstalk Women Mean Business Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award, in September 2010.
