Pilar Barreiro Ãlvarez
Pilar Álvarez Barreiro (Lugo, 24 November 1955) is a Spanish politician. She is currently the mayor of Cartagena from the June 17, 1995 by the People's Party and Member of Congress from March 2008
Political Career
Between 1991 and 1995 she was deputy in the Regional Assembly of Murcia Cartagena for the constituency of playing the position of deputy spokesman of the Popular Group. Pilar Barreiro Alvarez became the 17 June 1995 the first woman mayor in the history of Cartagena to obtain the majority support of citizens in the candidate of the Popular Party, which won 15 of the 27 councilors of the municipal corporation. In 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011 revalidated such absolute majority. In January 2008 she was appointed by the People's Party of the Region of Murcia as chief candidate for Congress in the general election on March 9. The list is headed by the most votes of any party in any constituency (61.43%), being elected Deputy.
Education
She Graduated in Law and Business of Icade, graduating in law. He began teaching in 1986 at the Graduate School of Social Cartagena, having taught at the School of Business Studies; currently teaches at the National University of Distance Education.
