About Fresnillo plc
Fresnillo plc is a Mexican-based precious metals mining company incorporated in the United Kingdom and headquartered in Mexico City. Fresnillo is the world's largest producer of silver from ore (primary silver) and Mexico's second-largest gold miner. Fresnillo plc was established in 2008, following restructuring of Peñoles separating precious metals business into Fresnillo Group. In the same year, the company made its debut on the London Stock Exchange (http://www.londonstockexchange.com/home/homepage.htm). Fresnillo has six operating mines, two in development and four in exploration.

Employment Policy
Fresnillo plc’s Centre for Technical Studies (CETEF) was created to train a high quality mining technicians for its specific needs. Candidates that join the CETEF are chosen from the communities surrounding the company’s operations in order to favour local employment while securing the talent pipeline. The training approach is based on a model that favours hands on experience, spending 20% studying theory and 80% practicing with modern equipment. Furthermore, Fresnillo also has an agreement with Peñoles (http://www.penoles.com.mx/Portal/faces/oracle/webcenter/portalapp/pages/home.jspx?_afrLoop=903285740809001&_afrWindowMode=0&_afrWindowId=null) to send the candidates to the Centre for Technical Studies of Laguna del Rey (CETLAR). The CETLAR follows a similar logic to the CETEF but focuses on training maintenance technicians. Furthermore, Fresnillo engages in the increasing the participation of women in mining. This is believed to be fundamental to secure the talent pipeline. Although the company is slightly above the national average, they must maintain the effort to seize this opportunity.

Promoting Human- and Civil Rights
As signatories to the UN Global Compact, Fresnillo is strongly committed to respecting and protecting freedom of association and collective bargaining. The collective agreements with unions guarantee competitive wages and benefits for the workforce that is unionised. Fresnillo is also committed to respecting the fair labour practices and labour rights of the non-unionised workers. Good relations with unions have also facilitated their buy-in of the efforts of Fresnillo to embed safety in the culture. Child labour or compulsory work are banned from Fresnillo’s operations and are regularly monitored by Mexican Authorities. Activities in the Field of Humanitarian Aid
Fresnillo plc engages in the celebration of the United Nations sponsored World Water Day (http://www.unwater.org/worldwaterday (March 22) and World Environmental Day (http://www.unep.org/WED/ (June 5), by bringing employees, contractors, families and community members together through parades, competitions, workshops, seminars and cleaning and reforestation activities, as well as tours to select environmental programmes such as the waste water treatment plants in Fresnillo and Saucito, and the Sustainable Forest in Ciénega.
