John Baron (born 21 June 1959) is a British Conservative politician and the Member of Parliament for Basildon and Billericay.

Political Career

John Baron's political career began when he contested seat for Basildon in 1997, although unsuccessful he went on to be elected as the Conservative MP for Billericay and District in 2001. Baron was selected to serve on Parliament's Education Select Committee and became a Shadow Health Minister in 2002. He resigned from the Front Bench in 2003 as a protest against the Iraq War. He was re-appointed as Shadow Health Minister and in the 2005 General Election, Baron was re-elected to his constituency. He moved to join the Oppositions Whips' Office in 2007. In the 2010 General Election he stood for election for the Foreign Affairs Select Committee.

Education

Baron studied Law, History and Politics at Cambridge.
