Rosa María Díez González was born in Sodupe (Vizcaya) 27th of May 1952
Political Career
Rosa María Díez González is member of the Party of European Socialists. In 2007 she gave up her seat and left the PSOE due to strong disagreement on what she perceived to be the Socialists' drift on individual liberties, ETA, and more. Subsequently she founded a new political party, UPyD ("Unión Progreso y Democracia" or Union, Progress and Democracy), based on an existing movement of Basque citizens against ETA violence. In 2008 and 2011, she was elected to the Congress of Deputies (Spain) representing Madrid district. In the last Spanish General Elections of 2011, she was re-elected, and her party was the fourth most voted party in Spain.
Education
Rosa María Díez González attended high school in her hometown, Sodupe, where she studied three years of administrative studies (Secretariat and Management). She started working at the age of 18 with the company Dun-Bradstreet, where she worked as a state administrator and graduated as an officer in the Provincial Council of Biscay.
