Heinz-Joachim Barchmann (born 17 November 1950) is a German politician and a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD).
Political Career
Barchmann has been politically active in the SPD since 1979. He is a member of parliament and a member of the Committee on the Affairs of the European Union since 2009. Since this legislative period he has been the deputy chairman of this committee. He was a deputy member of the Committee on Labour and Social Affairs from 2009-2013. He then switched to the Committee for Economic Cooperation and Development.
Education
Barchmann undertook an apprenticeship after finishing school. He undertook employment in trade and then in the Bundeswehr administration. In addition to professional activities, he attended an evening high school and subsequently studied at the Social Academy in Dortmund.
