László Göncz (born April 13, 1960) is a Hungarian historian and politician in Slovenia.

Political career

From 1994 until 2008 he was a director for the Institution of Culture of Hungarian Nationality in Lendava, Slovenia and since 2008 he has been a member of Slovenian National Assembly. He is an active member of IMNS ( Italian and Hungarian National Communities Deputy Group) and he represents the hungarian minority in Slovenia in the parliament.

Education

In 1988 he graduated from college in Szombathely (now called University of West Hungary) with a degree in history education. In 1996 he completed his Master's degree from University of Pécs to teach history. In 2001 he finished his PhD in historian sciences at Faculty of Arts at University of Pécs. His focus was on the issues of minorities in Central Europe in the 20th Century as well as on the history of Hungarians in Prekmurje in Slovenia in 19th and 20th Century.
