Dušan Galis (born on 24.11.1949 in Ružomberok) is former Slovak football player and trainer, who is momentally member of the National council of the Slovak Republic for SMER-SD.

Political career

In 2006 Dušan Galis was elected as Member of the Parliament for SMER-SD. In this year he also became Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Youth, Science and Sports. From 2006 to 2010 in he owned also the position of the Government Commissioner for youth and sport. In 2010 he was re-elected in the elections as Member of Parliament and became also member of the Parliamentary Committee for Education, Science, Youth and Sport. In 2005 Dušan Galis in the district of Bratislava III. Currently is member of the political party SMER-SD, member of the Committee on Education, Science, Youth and Sports and of the Special Control Committee for the Control of Activities of the National Security Authority.

Education

He graduated at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports of Comenius University in Bratislava.

Additional

As a football player he was playing for VSS Košice, Slovan Bratislava, Real Cádiz. He was coach of Slvoan Bratislava, Spartak Trnava and the Slovak National Team. Galis dressed up 8 times the jersey of the Slvoak National Team and won the European Championship with Czechoslovakia.
