Ewen James Hanning Cameron
Ewen James Hanning Cameron, Baron Cameron of Dillington, (born 24 November 1949) is a landowner and life peer who sits as a crossbench member of the House of Lords.
Political Career
Lord Cameron of Dillington joined the House of Lords on the 29th June 2004. Before entering into politics he had a career in the Agricultural Field. In 1999 he became the Chairman of the Countryside Agency, he held this role until 2004 when he became the Chairman of the Somerset Strategic Partnership, which he left in 2010. He was Rural Advocate for the UK Government from 2000-2004.
Education
Ewen Cameron was Educated at Harrow School and at Oxford University, where he studied modern history.
Notable Work
He has been manager of the Dillington Estate in Somerset since 1971. From 1995-97 he was President of the Country Land and Business Association and following this was a member of the UK Government’s Round Table for Sustainable Development until 2000. He has been Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Agriculture and Food for Development since 2009. In 2011 he became the Chairman of the Steering Board of Government’s Global Food Security Programme.
