Enrique César López Veija
Enrique César López Veija was born in A Coruña (Spain) on February the 1st, 1947. He is a Spanish politician from the Spanish People’s Party (PP).

Political Career
Mr.López Veij was appointed Fisheries and Agriculture Minister in the Galician Parliament from 1989-1993. He became again Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs in 2001 for a 4 years period. Afterwards, he was appointed member of the Environment, Finance and European Affairs Commissions (2005-2009).
Militar Career
Mr. López Veija was the Lieutenant Ensign of the Voluntary Reserve of the Spanish Army with a focus on meteorology.
Education Career
Mr. López Veija has a PhD in Biological Ciences from the Santiago de Compostela University (1977). Between 1972 and 1978, he conducted research on Oceanography, Ecology and Maritime Biology in the Research Institute of Fisheries in Vigo (Spain). Years after, he obtained a Bachelors Degree in Administration from the University of South Africa (UNISA) (1984 – 1988).

He speaks Spanish, Galician, English, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Afrikaans and has basic knowledge on German and Arabic.
Awards
In 1994 he obtained the Galician Silver Medal for his work in the fishing sector and he was assigned the title of Academic of the Real Academia de la Mar.
