Juan José Imbroda OrtÃz
Juan José Imbroda Ortíz was born on 24th June 1944 in Melilla, Spain. He is a Spanish politician, member of the Popular Party (PP) and Senator.
Political Career[edit]
He has been a local deputy in the Assembly from 1995 to 2007. Between 1979 and 1983, Melilla was Deputy Mayor in the City of Melilla. He was elected on the lists of the Union of the Democratic Centre and was deputy mayor and spokesman for the city of Melilla between 1979 and 1983. In 1985 he founded the Union del Pueblo Melillense, and was elected councilor in the municipal elections of 1987. Following the adoption of the Melillense autonomy statute, he was elected for the Assembly of Melilla in 1995 and 1999.
In 2000 he was elected president of the Autonomous City of Melilla through a motion of no confidence by his party, the Popular Party (PP) against President Mustafa Aberchán. The same year he was elected Senator for the coalition between his party and the Popular Party. He was head of the list for the same coalition in 2003 and was reelected. In 2003 his party joined the Popular Party of Melilla. He currently remains as President of the Autonomous City of Melilla and Senator in the Spanish Senate.
