Isabel Jiménez GarcÃa
Isabel Jiménez García was born on 20th September 1949 in Macotera, Spain. She is a Spanish politician, member of the Senate and member of Popular Party (PP).
Political Career[edit]
She joined Popular Alliance (current Popular Party) in 1977 working on the elections campaign in Salamanca. Later, in 1995, she was appointed attorney of the regional Parliament in Castilla-León. In 1998, she became Territorial Delegate of the Castilla-León government in Salamanca, becoming the first woman to hold the office. After five years as a delegate of the regional government in Castilla-León, she became the President of the Provincial Council of Salamanca, being appointed on 15 July 2003, a position which she was re-elected for in the elections of May 2007, as well as being Mayor of Macotera, Salamanca.
She is also a member of the Provincial Executive Committee, the Regional Executive Committee of Popular Party, President of the Commission on Agricultural and Livestock, and a member of the Regional Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FRMP) since 2003. Furthermore, since 20th October 2011 she has also been a member of the Spanish Senate.
Education[edit]
She enrolled at the Technical Institute of Business Studies. While attending college, she passed a Mutual Labour course , and later she combined it with her diploma in Sociology.
Notable work[edit]
Apart from her political work, she has also worked actively for the progress of women in society, founding the Association of Women for Democracy in 1981 and participating in the Association of Beatriz of Swabia.
