Gertrude Aubauer
Gertrude Aubauer (born July 13, 1951 in Vienna) is an Austrian journalist and politician. Since 2006, she has represented the Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) in the Austrian Parliament.
Political Career[edit]
In 1981 Gertrude Aubauer joined the Austrian Social Democratic Party in and resigned the party-membership in 2000, shortly after the formation of the Black-Blue Coalition. In 2006, Gertrude Aubauer was presented as the newcomer of Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) for the National Council elections in 2006. Gertrude Aubauer received her mandate from the federal nomination and was sworn in on 30 October 2006. After the parliamentary elections in Austria in 2008, Aubauer was appointed as State Secretary in the Federal Government and was on 3 December 2008 again sworn. She is a senior spokesperson for the ÖVP.
Education[edit]
Gertrude Aubauer attended elementary school in Gaenserndorf, and then completed a general education high school in Gaenserndorf and Vienna. Gertrude Aubauer studied economics at the University of Vienna. From 1975 on, Gertrude Aubauer worked as a journalist, initially for the current service of the Austrian radio. Discovered by Josef Broukal and Franz Kreuzer, Aubauer was moved to the Austrian television news-programm Zeit im Bild, where she served as an editor and reporter and supervised domestic issues. Between 1986 and 1994, Gertrude Aubauer moderated the Zeit im Bild. In 1995 Aubauer hosted the weekly program broadcast Parliament of the House. In addition, Gertrude Aubauer wrote a weekly column entitled "Members of the House from the Inside". Furthermore, Gertrude Aubauer works as a trainer for television interviews and public speaking.
