Lorenz Caffier
Lorenz Caffier was born on the 24th of December 1954 in Dresden. He is a member of the German Federal Council for the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). He is also the Deputy Prime and the Minister of the Interior and Sports of the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Political career[edit]
In 1990 he was a People's Chamber Member of the GDR and since 1990, he has been a member of the State Diet of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Between 1990 and 2006 he served as a Parliamentary Secretary for the CDU parliamentary group. From 1990 to 2005 he was the District Chairman of the CDU in Mecklenburg / Strelitz, Between 1993 and 2005 he was the treasurer of the CDU state association. Subsequently, from 2005 to 2009 he served as the Secretary General of the CDU in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Since 2009 he is the chairman of the CDU in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Education[edit]
Caffier did a vocational training for forestry technicians. Between 1976 and1980 he studied at the Engineering School in Berlin-Wartenberg, where he graduated in Agricultural Engineering.
