Priska Hinz was born on the 10th of March 1959 in Diez an der Lahn. She has been a member of the German Federal Council for the Alliance '90/The Greens since 2014. Besides this, she is the Hessian Minister of State and the Hessian Minister for the Environment, Climate Change, Agriculture and Consumer Protection.

Political career

Between 1982 and 1985 she worked for the Parliamentary Group of the Greens in the Hessian state parliament. From 1985 to 1987 she was a city councillor in Friedrichsdorf. Moreover, from 1985 to 1989 and from 1995 to 2005 she was a member of the State Parliament of Hesse. Between 1989 and 1994 she worked for the city council of Maintal, where she held various different positions. From 1993 to 1995 she was a member of the State Board of Alliance 90 / The Greens in Hesse.

Moreover, between 1994 and 1995, she was the State Secretary for Federal Affairs and the representative of the state of Hesse in the Federation. From 1998 to 1999 she was the Minister of Environment, Energy, Youth, Family and Health in the State of Hesse. Between 2001 and 2006 she was a member of the district council in Lahn-Dill. Finally, between 2005 and 2014 she was a member of the German Bundestag.

Education

Between 1975 and 1979 she did teacher training in Limburg an der Lahn. Subsequently, she worked in a children's home in Herborn. Between 1979 and 1982 she was the director of a daycare center in Frankfurt am Main.
