María Concepción Gutiérrez del Castillo was born in Jaén on February 5, 1954. She is a member of the Spanish Congress within the Spanish Socialist Party (PSOE).

Political Career

In 1990, Castillo began working for the Regional Government of Andalusia; in the legislature III (1990-1994) and she was appointed Director of the Presidency.

In 1996, the Andalusian governement opened an office in Brussels to strengthen the presence of Andalucía to the institutions of the European Union and Concepción Gutiérrez took care of it.

In 2000, she was appointed Minister of Public Works and Transport, repeating portfolio in the next legislature.

In 2008, Castillo was elected to the Spanish Congress.

Education

Castillo has a Law Degree.
