Philippe Muyters is a Flemish politician born 6 December 1961. He is a member of the New Flemish Alliance (N-VA). After the general elections of 2010 he was elected as senator.

Political career

Muyters started his political career in 2009. He became Minister of Finance, Budget, Work , Plan-ning and Sport in the Flemish government Peeters II (2009-2014). In 2010 he was elected to the Senate. He was reelected in the 2014 Flemish parliamentarian elections as minister of Work, Econ-omy, Innovation and Sport (2014-present). He has been Councillor in Edegem from 2013 until pre-sent. Muyters advocated for more support for jobseekers. Despite the economic crisis, Muyters was always able, as Minister of Budget, to create a balanced budget. He was also chosen as the expert-minister at the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

Education

Muyters went to school at the Sint-Jan-Berchmans college. He obtained his Masters degree in Ap-plied Economic Sciences with distinction at UFSIA (Universitaire Faculteiten Sint-Ignatius Antwerpen) in 1984.
