Joan Sabaté Borràs, born in Tortosa (Tarragona) on the 8th October 1957, is a Spanish senator elected for the constituency of Tarragona in the 10th term. He is a member of the Catalonian Socialists (PSC).

Political Career[edit]

Joan Sabaté Borràs was elected as senator for the first time in the 7th term, and then again in the 8th and 9th. During the current term, he is acting as spokesman of the International Affairs Commission, of the Defence Commission and of the Mixed Commission for the European Union. He is also a member of the Constitutional Commission and of the commission to avoid the depopulation in the mountain areas. Before becoming a senator, Pedro Antonio Ruiz Santos had been regional deputy in the Catalonia Parliament and councillor and mayor in the city council of Tortosa in different terms.

Education[edit]

Joan Sabaté Borràs has a degree in Geography and History for the University of Barcelona and he was also a high school teacher.
