Katarzyna Hall
Katarzyna Hall, née Kończa (born 15 March 1957 in Gdańsk) is an educational and social activist, and local government clerk. She has been a member of the Polish parliament since 2011. She was also the minister of national education of the Republic of Poland in the years of 2007 – 2011.
Political career[edit]
In 1989, Katarzyna Hall was was involved in the creation of non-public education in Gdansk. She organized a team of researchers which developed the concept for the program for the first private school in the region, Gdansk Autonomous High School, of which she became the first director. She was among the founders of Gdansk Educational Foundation. In 1995, she created the Autonomous Sopot Primary School. She also became the attorney of the Gdansk Educational Foundation board. She belonged to the Conservative Party, and then to the Conservative People's Party. In 1999-2001, she was a member of the the Consultative Council for the Reform of Education. On February 13th, 2006 she was appointed the Vice President of Gdańsk Committee for Social Policy. On November 16, 2007 she was appointed as Minister of Education. In the elections of 2011 she was a nonpartisan candidate to the Parliament and obtained a parliamentary seat. On November 18, 2011 she ended tenure as Minister.
