BG Group plc is a natural gas company which operates in more than 20 countries on five continents.The Company is engaged in the exploration, development and production of natural gas and oil. There are three main business segments BG Group operates in and those are Liquefied Natural Gas, Exploration and Production and Transmission and Distribution. Their high performing Exploration and Production business remains the focal point of their activities.
Engagement in Cultural Diplomacy
With a global presence BG Group recognizes the necessity for building relationships with local people. Therefore the company’s targets and strategies regarding cultural diplomacy are crucial. During 2012, the company ran several social programs in Tanzania, Trinidad, Australia and Tobago. Thus, their community program in Queensland, Australia is in partnership with local organization to ensure the employment of indigenous people, and their business capability and skills development. Social investment program with focus on education, vocational training, livelihoods and marine conservation in Tanzania provided training and skills development. BG Group established its partnership with London Science Museum in 2012.

Cultural Exchange Programs
UK-Brazil STEM visit has been organized with an intention to share experiences and build connection between UK and Brazilian STEM education researchers and practitioners through the combination of presentations, discussion sessions, and external visits. BG Group has been a host sponsor of the Gastech Exhibition since 2012 showcasing over 400 international exhibitors and three comprehensive technical theatres.

International Internship Program
The company offers broad opportunities for young professionals from all over the world and students who are willing to work at the BG Group. The two-year International Graduate Development program offered by the company is a great chance to start a career in the energy sector. The program offers a lot of different ways to get involved in business. In fact, it involves Engineering & Operations, Petroleum Engineering, Geology & Geophysics, Commercial, Contracts & Procurement, Economics, Project Management, Well Engineering, Finance and Energy Marketing & Trading.
Grants and Scholarships
The cooperation with the British Council has helped to fund two scholarships for Tnazanian students in order to study for MSc degrees in Petroleum, Geosciences or Mechanical Engineering at UK universities. Moreover, this program will also continue to support the development of a cadre of highly qualified engineers and scientists. As a result of this program, the first two students had a chance to begin studies at Universities in the UK in September 2012.

Promoting Human- and Civil Rights
BG Group respects human rights as stated in the Universal Declaration on Human Rights and has committed to respect the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR), to which the company is a signatory. BG Group develops policies to define the operations and the expectations for business delivery in the company´s branches. Each policy is explained by a clear statement of intent based on business rationale.
Activities in the Field of Humanitarian Aid
According to the latest Sustainability Report on the company’s website, BG Group has spent 1.142,000 m$ on charitable donations and philanthropy in 2012 (BG Group, 2014). For instance, the company cooperates with the Toco Foundation in order to support the educational, economic, and environmental development in Trinidad and Tobago.

BG Group is a constant sponsor of the annual National Whale and Dolphin Watch (films made by the Sea Watch Young Persons Environmental Film Workshops).
