Bill Clinton
William Jefferson Clinton was born on August 19th, 1946. Clinton is an alumnus of GeorgeTown University. He also secured a Rhodes Scholarship to attend the University of Oxford. Subsequently he went on to earn a degree in law from Yale Law School. He is an American politician who served from 1993 to 2001 as the 42nd President of the United States. Before becoming President, Clinton was the Governor of Arkansas for five terms serving from 1979 to 1981 and from 1983 to 1992. He also served as the state’s Attorney General from 1977 to 1979. On becoming President in 1992 at the age of 46, he became the third youngest President in history. Upon finishing his tenure as President in 2001, he left with the highest end of office approval rating of any US President since World War 2. Since leaving office he has become involved in a number of humanitarian projects.

Engagement in Cultural Diplomacy[edit]
In order to display their gratitude for his help in the Kosovo war, the Republic of Kosovo renamed a major street in the capital city of Pristina as Bill Clinton Boulevard and added a monumental Clinton statue.
Humanitarian Causes[edit]
He was named as an Honorary GLAAD Media Award recipient for his work as an advocate of the [en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_community LGBT community]. In 2004, Clinton was appointed to head a relief effort by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan with the aim of aiding in the aftermath of the Asian tsunami. Clinton set up the William J. Clinton Foundation to make treatment for HIV/Aids more affordable and to implement large scale integrated care, treatment and prevention programs. Additionally there is the Clinton Global initiative which was set up to tackle global problems such as global public health, poverty alleviation and religious and ethnic conflict.
