Griet Smaers
Griet Smaers was born on June 10th 1977 in Geel (Belgium). She is a member of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives for the Flemish Christian Democratic Party (CD&V). She also holds a seat in the city council of Geel.
Political Career[edit]
Griet Smaers started her political career in 2001 as a councillor in Geel. She is a former alderman for finance, local economy, and employment from between 2007 and 2010 in Geel. In 2009, she was elected as a member of Flemish Parliament. On May 25th 2014 she moved to the national level; she got elected as a member of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives for the Flemish Christian Democrats (CD&V).

She graduated in law at the KU Leuven.
