Claude Belot

Claude Belot (born July 11, 1936) is a UMP (Union for a Popular Movement) member of the Senate of France, representing the Charente-Maritime Department.

Political Career

Belot entered politics in 1977 when he was elected Mayor of Jonzac, a position he still holds.

In 1989, Belot was elected to the French Senate for the Department of Charente-Maritime.

As a Senator, Belot has served on a number of councils and committees including: the Senate Delegation for local government and decentralization, the Parliamentary Office for Evaluation of Scientific and Technological, the National Council for Planning and Development Planning (CNADT), the National Tourism Council.

For a period of time, Belot was also responsible for a temporary assignment to the Minister of Youth, Sports and Associative Life and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Planning, Tourism and the Sea.

Education

Belot received a diploma from the Institute of Administration and Enterprise.
